Sounds of Summer 2023: Where to find live music outside in Salem

Live outdoor music is a rite of passage for a Salem summer. And we’ve got you covered. Here’s a look at some of the places you can catch a concert under the stars this season. We hope to see you there! (Updated June 21, 2023)

Ankeny Vineyard, 2565 Riverside Dr. S, hosts live music most weekends during the summer. And if you don’t go for the music, go for a taste of estate-grown wines and wood-fired pizzas, plus a glorious sunset. The cost is $5 per person.   • Jul 8: The Easy Targets: 1959 rock, 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.
  • Jul 9: Rebecca Hardiman Trio: jazz, 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.
  • Jul 15: Sam Girl: singer/songwriter, 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.
  • Jul 16: Manny Martinez Quartet: jazz, 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.

Bryn Mawr Vineyards, 5935 Bethel Heights Road NW, hosts Taco Tuesday which includes live music, 5 to 8 p.m. Tacos are from Newberg food truck, Ricky’s Tacos, plus the vineyard offers a featured wine at a special discount. Make your reservations at brynmawrvineyards.com

Capital City LIVE! welcomes country music artist Lee Brice for a night of outdoor tunes on Wednesday, June 21 at the L.B. Day Amphitheater at Oregon State Fairgrounds, 2330 17th St NE. The fun starts at 4:30 p.m. with the KRKT Pre-Party featuring live music by Trevor Tagle. Doors to venue open at 6 p.m.; concert begins at 7:30. The all-ages show benefits children and families partnering with Family Building Blocks. Tickets start at $67. Click here for tickets.


The City of Salem is hosting a free concert series at the Gerry Frank | Salem Rotary Amphitheater in Riverfront Park on the First Friday of the month during the summer.

The Summer Uncorked Concert Series returns to Eola Hills Legacy Estate Vineyard, 1600 Oak Grove Road. The shows take place 6 to 8 p.m. Bring your own chair or blanket and grab a spot on the lawn. Tickets are $20 online or $25 at the door. Children 12 and under are free. Reserve a limited table on the VIP terrace for an additional cost. Doors open at 5 p.m. There will be rotating food trucks and a wine bar. No outside food or drinks are permitted. The shows happen rain or shine, so go prepared. Marion County Fair at the Oregon State Fairgrounds offers live music as a small part of its entertainment. The fair takes place July 6 through 9. Buy tickets in advance for a discount. Learn more at https://marioncountyfair.net/

MIG Fest returns to bring a day of punk and ska music to Minto Island Growers, 3394 Brown Island Rd S, on Saturday, July 22.

This year’s lineup includes —

  • MONKEY is an award-winning, high-energy, horn-driven, 5-piece, ska/rock/reggae group based out of northern California.
  • The Bandulus (BAN-DOO-LOOS) return to the MIG Fest stage after playing for year one. This Portland band plays traditional ska, reggae, and soul.
  • Cut-Rate Druggist is a punk rock duo featuring dual vocals with heavy drums and a bass guitar from Oakland, California.
  • Los Mal Hablados is a Latin skacore band from Portland, Oregon.
  • 1876 is Pow Wow punk rock from Portland, Oregon, representing the Northern Cheyenne and the Blackfeet nations, singing in both languages.

Beyond MIG Fest, Summer Concert Series – Live on the Farm – is happening at Minto Island Growers, 3394 Brown Island Rd S. There is limited picnic seating, but plenty of room on the grass so bring a blanket and/or chair. Food and beverages are available one hour before the shows.

The Oregon State Fair is happening from August 25 through September 4. Reserved seat tickets range from $50 to $125 depending on seat location. Salem Saturday Market, 856 Marion St. SE, features live music 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., in addition to a large variety of fresh, local and handmade products from flowers and produce to artisan food and crafts. Info: salemcommunitymarkets.com.


Summer ’69 Music Festival is happening 12 to 10 p.m. September 9 at the Gerry Frank, Salem Rotary Amphitheater at Riverfront Park. Musical highlights include Soul Sacrifice, Randy Hansen (performing a Jimi Hendrix tribute) and Creedence Revelation featuring Randy Linder. There will be food vendors available on site. Tickets start at $45 for general admission ($40 for children 12 and younger). Reserved seating is $110-$150. Click here for more info and tickets.


Trinity Vineyards, 1031 Wahl Lane S, is offering live music all summer long. Plus wine and beer for sale and food available for purchase from a rotating food vendor. Bring a lawn chair as seating is limited. Music is free except where specified. Info: 503-371-6977, trinityvineyards.com
