If you’re not quite ready (willing, able, or interested) in joining roller derby, but still want to get your skate on, fear not…Traveling Wheelz is ready to get you rolling.
A passion project of Erin Wheeler-McKenzie, Traveling Wheelz is a pop-up skating rink that hosts Open Skate events a few times a month.

February 18 — Mardi Gras celebration
Session One: 4 to 6:30 p.m.
Session Two: 7:30 to 10 p.m.
March 4 — Super Hero Night
Session One: 4 to 6:30 p.m.
Session Two: 7:30 to 10 p.m.
March 18 — Leprechauns and Clovers Celebration
Session One: 4 to 6:30 p.m.
Session Two: 7:30 to 10 p.m.
March 31 — Adults Only 18+
9 to 11 p.m.
April 1 — Backwards Day
All ages welcome: 1 to 4 p.m.
April 8 — Twins Night
Session One: 4 to 6:30 p.m.
Session Two: 7:30 to 10 p.m.
April 22 — Earth/Seasons Celebration
Session One: 4 to 6:30 p.m.
Session Two: 7:30 to 10 p.m.
Cost is $10 per person. Bring your own skates or rent some for $5. Oh and yes, festive attire is encouraged. These events take place at The Mad House, home of Cherry City Roller Derby, at 1335 Madison St NE.
It’s a side hustle fueled by passion. “I will never get rich, but I love it,” Erin said. “I want the community to have it.”

PS: If you have a skatable surface, it can be a pop-up skating rink. Erin has all the gear, including quad, inline and speed skates, plus pads, gear and helmets, if needed.
