Whiskers at the Whiskey 3.0 is an experience for all ages – bearded or not. Here are our five reasons you should go —
To support local.
This event is organized by Bearded Oregon, a Salem maker of premium handcrafted beard products from oils to balms and butters featuring unique blends of Oregon-sourced ingredients and scents inspired by the cities of our stunning state.
Anyone can participate.
You don’t need to have a (naturally growing) beard to be part of the fun. The “Whiskerina,” or Build-a-Beard, category is specifically for those who create an artistic and/or realistic beard out of hair or unconventional materials. Only requirement: The beard/stache must be able to freely hang from the face without assistance from your hands. Oh, and kids can enter, too! The venue allows minors until 9 p.m.
Celebrities!
Portland’s Daddy Bear Drag Queen Diana Fire returns to emcee the show for the third time. A theater kid turned dancer turned drag performer, Diana was a finalist on season 2 of the drag reality show Camp Wannakiki on YouTube and OutTV.
There’s a Halloween theme.
There is a spooktacular category specifically created for any Halloween-themed entry. “The creepier the better with no technical rules. It’s a popular second category for Freestylers and Whiskerinas.”
It’s a fundraiser.
All profits from the event will be donated to Savin’ Juice, a medical fund for shelter dogs in dire need of medical care. This organization partners with rescues and veterinarians to help dogs that otherwise would go without needed medical treatment.
And finally, bonus reason (if you really needed another) — There. Will. Be. Puppies. Savin’ Juice will be bringing some puppies for playtime and cuddles.
The fun takes place on Saturday, October 22, at The Night Deposit Whiskey Library, 195 Commercial St NE.
