Do you have an event to share on the Press Play Salem calendar?
Here’s what you need to know —
- Event must take place in Salem, Oregon.
- Event must be open to the public.
Every event is reviewed by Press Play Salem prior to publishing. We retain permission to not publish all submitted events if they do not meet our guidelines.
Event Name: The name of your event. This should be short — 5 words or less.
Location: Start typing the location of your event and it should populate in the box. If you do not see your location listed, you can add a location for review and approval.
Category: What kind of event are you having? Select up to three categories.
Event Info: Write a summary of your event here. We recommend that you cover the who, what and why of your event. Who is hosting? Who is the event for? Who would enjoy it? What is the event about? Why are you having the event? It does not have to be long — 2 to 5 sentences. But give people the basics.
Date: List the date and time of your event. You can also select whether your event is all day and/or recurring. If you have a recurring event, you should also list how often or the dates in the Event Info so we can ensure it shows up in the calendar correctly.
Image: Add an image of your event. Max size is 5 MB. Give it a caption and tell us who to credit for the image. We recommend images of at least 600 pixels wide. Square aspect ratio is good, but portrait or landscape will also work.
Your Contact Email: What email can we contact you at incase we have any questions?
Optional Event Information: List your event phone, email and website so people know how to contact you for further information or if they have any questions.
For best results, submit your event well in advance. You should submit your event at least 2 weeks prior. We try to have events published within 48 hours of submission, but we cannot always guarantee this.
Check the declaration box and click “Submit Event.”
Once submitted, your event will be reviewed and published if it meets our guidelines.

Want your event to be considered for a story?
If you want your event to be considered for a story, email a press release and a high-resolution JPG photo to the editor at pressplaysalem@gmail.com at least two weeks in advance of an event. If you want your event to be considered for the calendar in our print magazine, it must be submitted prior to these deadlines:
- Event in March, April or May — submit by January 15
- Event in June, July or August — submit by April 15
- Event in Sept, Oct or Nov — submit by July 15
- Event in Dec, Jan or Feb — submit by Oct 15

Note: Press Play Salem has the right to determine whether an event is listed or featured in an article. Private events, events that are sold out and those that will not welcome a good-sized audience will likely not be included.
