The InstigatorSalem Cinema is asking moviegoers to take a chance.
Its Surprise Cinema screenings keep the title under wraps until showtime, offering only a one-line clue for anyone who wants to try to crack the mystery beforehand. The idea turns a regular night at the movies into, well, a surprise.

Sep 29 — Led by energetic performances, this cozy 1987 rom-com is an exuberantly funny tribute to love. (Rom Com) Bonus: the Sept 29 edition adds another twist—a Craft Night screening. Moviegoers are encouraged to bring a small handcraft, such as knitting, crochet, or embroidery, to work on during the film. The house lights will remain partially illuminated so crafters can see what they’re doing without missing the movie.
Oct 10 — Evoking a nostalgic storybook feeling, this 2014 autumn folktale follows two brothers on a wondrous adventure to find their way home. (Family)
Oct 20 — Welcoming kids and adults alike into a creepy house full of smart, monstrous fun, this delightfully goofy 2006 movie is frightful fun. (Family)
