Countdown Begins for 6th Annual Run for the Rare in Salem

Salem, OR — The countdown is underway for the 6th Annual Run for the Rare, a 10K, 5K, and 1-mile run/walk hosted by the Haley’s Heroes Foundation in honor of International Batten Awareness Day. The event will take place on Saturday, June 8, 2025, at Riverfront Park in downtown Salem, with the race beginning at 10 a.m. in the North Meadow near the Pavilion.

This year’s event is presented by Blue Box Storage, a long-standing supporter of the foundation. Additional sponsors include local businesses such as iWingz, Stumptown Booth, Storage 4 Less, the Salem Convention Center, and Farmers Insurance Hollie Vanek Agency.

Participants will enjoy a lively and family-friendly atmosphere complete with a live DJ, food, ice cream, a photo booth, and commemorative race T-shirts. Proceeds from the event go toward raising awareness and supporting research for rare diseases, including Batten disease, which affects thousands of children worldwide.

Registration is now open at runsignup.com/Race/OR/Salem/HALEYSHEROESRUNFORTHERARE. Fees are $45 for adults (ages 13 and up) and $35 for children 12 and under.
