They will investigate how the Kalapuya community was impacted by waves of Euro-American explorers\, fur trappers\, missionaries\, and Oregon Trail immigrants. \nArchaeology: More Than Rocks!\nAugust 14 and August 28\, 2026\n10:15 am – 11:45 am\nFamilies will learn that how they discover something is just as critical as what they uncover. They are taught the importance of stewarding both the mystery and the story that a dig site offers. \n\nLearn skills for unearthing artifacts and handling them responsibly\nGet your hands “dirty” using tools to explore a dig box\nParticipate in a group exercise where they rotate responsibilities and make collective decisions\nPresent findings to the rest of the class and conduct your own Q&A
