SUMMARY:Jane Lynch & Kate Flannery: The Trouble with Angels
DESCRIPTION:The Trouble with Angels \nAn evening of mischief and music from two very familiar faces. It’s like the Rat Pack… but with a couple of broads. \nJoin Emmy Award-winner Jane Lynch and the hilariously charming Kate Flannery for a raucous night of comedy\, song\, and unapologetic mischief in The Trouble with Angels. With powerhouse vocals\, razor-sharp wit\, and more than a few surprises\, these two beloved stars serve up a cocktail of classic tunes\, campy banter\, and devilish charm. It’s part cabaret\, part stand-up\, and all sass—because when these angels get together\, heaven can wait.

SUMMARY:JJ Gregg - Album Release Party
DESCRIPTION:The recordings on this album document some of JJ’s most inspired performances and capture some of the beauty that Minto Island Growers brings to our community! \nAbout the album — It’s raining. Fifteen people and a dog crowd into a food tent listening to amplified sitar. They’re totally silent for almost twenty minutes of sonic exploration and ambient interpolation. With a few barks and eager applause\, the last tones of Raag Madhmadh Sarang hang in the moist fall air. ‘Minto & Elsewhere’ captures this and more\, with eight improvisations inspired by the audience and the landscape. Thanks to the compact\, multi-track recording setup designed by engineer Mark Yoshizumi\, ‘Minto & Elsewhere’ illuminates the unique intensity and passion shared in each of these live improvisations. Inspired by Frank Zappa’s ‘Roxy & Elsewhere’\, the sitar & tabla on this album deliver a tour de force of intricate beats and intriguing sounds. \nThe album is available for preorder here: https://jjgregg.bandcamp.com/album/minto-elsewhere \nFood and beverage service will be open during the event.

SUMMARY:Jason Bonham's Led Zeppelin Evening
DESCRIPTION:Jason Bonham always finds himself at home behind the drum kit. From this spot\, he has anchored the tempo for a myriad of the most legendary artists of all-time. It’s the place where he initially realized his destiny as a kid. It’s a tried-and-true safe harbor for the expression of his purest emotions. It’s a direct conduit to his late father and Led Zeppelin drummer John Bonham. \nFollowing stints with Airrace and Virginia Wolf\, he handled drums on Jimmy Page’s gold-certified Outrider. During 1988\, he notably accompanied Page\, John Paul Jones\, and Robert Plant behind the kit for Led Zeppelin at the Atlantic Records 40th Anniversary Celebration Concert. Beyond helming solo projects such as Bonham and The Jason Bonham Band\, he appeared in Rock Star with Mark Wahlberg and Jennifer Aniston. Plus\, he lent his talents to Foreigner\, Little Steven\, Joe Bonamassa\, and Paul Rodgers. He held down the drums for Led Zeppelin’s 2007 reunion at the Ahmet Ertegun Tribute Concert—which set the Guinness World Record® for “Highest Demand for Tickets for One Music Concert.” The evening spawned the Celebration Day concert film and multiplatinum album\, debuting Top 10 on the Billboard 200\, selling three million-plus copies\, and garnering a GRAMMY®. Other notable projects have included Black Country Communion (Bonamassa\, Glenn Hughes\, and Derek Sherinian) and California Breed (Hughes and producer and guitarist Andrew Watt). He joined Sammy Hagar and the Circle with Van Halen’s Michael Anthony and Joe Satriani. In 2010\, he introduced Jason Bonham’s Led Zeppelin Evening (JBLZE)\, packing venues coast-to-coast and supporting everyone from Heart to Kid Rock. A spectacle of top-flight musicianship\, arresting visuals\, mind-blowing lighting\, and emotionally charged storytelling\, Rolling Stone hailed its “set of Led Zep gems that were strikingly faithful to the originals\,” while Billy Joel handpicked JBLZE to open up a handful of dates. Ultimately\, Jason remains forever at home on the drums.

SUMMARY:Theatre 33 presents Prodigies
DESCRIPTION:Theatre 33\, in residence at Willamette University\, is a new play development company that helps Oregon/NW playwrights develop their new scripts from our 60-hour rehearsed workshop production (fully designed lights\, sound\, props\, set\, costumes\, and entirely blocked with scripts in hand) to a world-premiere full production. \nProdigies by Brook Bethel\nWhen a new talented competitor appears at an annual youth piano competition\, Isla\, Benji\, Kinsleigh\, and Eden question their own competency and ability to keep up with the growing demands of being a prodigy. After Isla gets her period while practicing\, she takes it as a sign that she should quit playing piano forever\, and attempts to rally the other prodigies to question their own devotion to Bach. “Prodigies” is a play about labor\, duty\, and living on the excruciating precipice of being a teenager. \n\nAugust 9\, 7 p.m. (Pelton Playhouse\, Salem)\nAugust 16\, 7 p.m. (Pelton Playhouse\, Salem)
