DESCRIPTION:The recordings on this album document some of JJ’s most inspired performances and capture some of the beauty that Minto Island Growers brings to our community! \nAbout the album — It’s raining. Fifteen people and a dog crowd into a food tent listening to amplified sitar. They’re totally silent for almost twenty minutes of sonic exploration and ambient interpolation. With a few barks and eager applause\, the last tones of Raag Madhmadh Sarang hang in the moist fall air. ‘Minto & Elsewhere’ captures this and more\, with eight improvisations inspired by the audience and the landscape. Thanks to the compact\, multi-track recording setup designed by engineer Mark Yoshizumi\, ‘Minto & Elsewhere’ illuminates the unique intensity and passion shared in each of these live improvisations.
