ON EXHIBIT: Fiber Arts Show Nov

Artists in Action presents its Fiber Arts Show, featuring textile-based artwork and the playful, wearable art “Upcycled Creations” Fashion Show, November 6–28 at Elsinore Framing and Fine Art Gallery, 444 Ferry St. SE.
Opening reception: Friday, November 6, 5–8 p.m.; Fashion Show runway and judging begin at 6 p.m. Free and open to the public.
Artists in Action’s Fiber Arts Show will showcase a wide range of artistic creations using textile materials and techniques: knitting, weaving, quilting, embroidery, macrame, felting, rug hooking, lace making, basketry, sewing, papermaking, to name a few. Fiber arts is a creative field where artists use natural or synthetic fibers and textiles to create works of art Fiber art emphasizes the artistic process and the unique qualities of the materials. It can involve intricate patterns, textures, and color combinations.
Fiber art is a dynamic and evolving field where artists use textiles to explore cultural, social, and personal themes. It allows for storytelling and personal expression through the use of colors, patterns, and symbols. Fiber art has a rich history rooted in ancient cultures, where it served both practical and ceremonial purposes. In recent decades, there has been a growing recognition of fiber art as a legitimate and important form of contemporary art, with artists pushing the boundaries of traditional techniques and materials.

The ribbon and monetary awards include these categories: Best of Show, Best Original Design, Best Wearable, Best Use of Unconventional Material, Best Use of Color, Most Functional Non-wearable, and Honorable Mention.
Additionally, the People’s Choice Award will be determined by the count of ballots that are available in the gallery throughout the show.
